Branding

schakl. carries your agency’s name, not ours. One screen holds the brand name, logo, favicon, app icon and colours, and beside them the language, timezone, currency and country of your organisation. Everything applies from the next page load, for everyone in the workspace; nothing is rebuilt and nothing restarts.

Instellingen → Huisstijl (Settings → Branding), in the group Werkruimte (Workspace). The “Zoek een instelling” (Find a setting) box also finds it on words like “logo”, “favicon”, “kleur”, “tijdzone” or “valuta”. It is one form with one Opslaan (Save) and two named halves: Merk (Brand) and Regio & formaat (Region & format). A Voorbeeld (Preview) panel beside the form follows along while you pick colours.

  • Merknaam (Brand name, required). It appears at the top of the sidebar, on the login screen, in the browser tab title, as the name of the installed app, in the header of every outgoing e-mail, and on your invoices, quotes and reports wherever there is no logo.
  • Merknaam naast het logo tonen (Show the brand name next to the logo). Leave it off and the sidebar carries the logo alone, and the tab title drops the brand prefix.
  • Titel browsertabblad (Browser tab title). A template with {page} (the page name, required) and optionally {brand}. A live preview sits under the field, and the screen tells you a template is wrong before you save. Leave it empty for the default: Brand · Page.
  • Logo. Shown in the sidebar, on the login screen, in the header of outgoing mail and on the PDF documents schakl. generates.
  • Favicon. The browser tab icon.
  • App-icoon (App icon). A square image of at least 512×512 px (PNG, JPEG or WebP). This becomes the home-screen icon when somebody installs the app; schakl. derives the 192 and 512 sizes itself, including the “maskable” variant Android crops to a circle. The favicon stays the tab icon.
  • Primaire kleur (Primary colour) and Accentkleur (Accent colour). The primary colour is what the app paints with: buttons, links, the active menu item, badges, and the browser’s own checkboxes and date pickers. The same colour is the theme and splash colour of the installed app, the colour of the brand name in the e-mail header, and the fallback colour of your documents.

The three image fields share one picker: a thumbnail with Bestand kiezen (Choose file) or Vervangen (Replace), and Verwijderen (Remove). To point at an asset you already host, open Een gehoste URL gebruiken (Point at a hosted URL instead) and paste the URL.

  • Standaardtaal (Default language): Dutch or English, for everyone who has not chosen for themselves.
  • Tijdzone (Timezone): event times are shown in this zone for everyone in the workspace.
  • Land (Country): where the organisation operates. Used to read a phone number written without a country code, and as the default for a new client.
  • Valuta (Currency): all amounts are shown in this currency for everyone.

At the bottom of the screen sits an Eigen domein (Custom domain) card with its current status. Setting it up happens in its own guided wizard (Instellingen → Eigen domein): prove ownership with a TXT record first, then DNS and the TLS certificate. That is deliberately a separate screen rather than a field on this form.

PermissionWhat it opensDefault
settings.branding.writeInstellingen → Huisstijl and Instellingen → ModulesAdministrator
settings.domain.writeInstellingen → Eigen domeinAdministrator

An owner holds everything. An administrator can also hand the key out on its own: somebody with only settings.branding.write sees exactly those two cards in Instellingen and nothing else. Uploading an image also needs the ordinary upload permission (files.file.write), and only images are accepted here.

  • Changes apply from the next page load, for everyone. Nobody has to sign out.
  • In dark mode your brand colours are lightened automatically if their contrast against the dark background would be too low. The hue is preserved, so your colour stays recognisable and you never have to supply a second set.
  • The first-run wizard at /setup already asks for the brand name, colours and language. This screen is where you change them afterwards.
  • The background image and accent colour of your invoice and quote template are not here but under Instellingen → Facturatie (Settings → Invoicing). That template falls back to your primary colour as long as you leave its own accent empty.
  • A client’s logo is a different thing from your own branding. You set it on the client’s own page, and it is shown there and on that client’s portal dashboard.
